On May 20, 2015, over 70 volunteers from Marriott International arrived on big white buses ready to get their hands dirty for Spirit to Serve Day at Madison Fields.
The 400-acre property located in Dickerson, MD, while breathtakingly beautiful, needs a great deal of ongoing maintenance in order to stay that way – and given our limited staff, volunteers are essential. The Marriott volunteers tackled three major tasks that day with enthusiasm and diligence – troubleshooting and connecting our wireless network, whitewashing thousands of feet of fencing (just over a mile, actually), and planting an array of colorful summer blooms in the gardens.
As Madison Fields Farm Manager, Doug Balls, announced at the start of Spirit to Serve Day 2015, “[We] don’t have the vocabulary to express the appreciation we have for each of you for taking time out of your day to help us!” Thank you for contributing your time and efforts to Madison Fields, a place where individuals with disabilities and the broader community can thrive and grow together.
It’s not often that you see people working so hard also managing to have so much fun. The video below proves just how wonderful a day it was! Check it out!
