Kacey Pope is one of the 19% of adults with autism who would like to live on a farmstead like Madison Fields. She is also one of the 87% of adults on the spectrum who currently live with their aging parents. As much as she enjoys her parents, Kacey would like to live a life that is her own, just like her brother. With so few suitable options for people like Kacey to call home, and with half a million more who will be seeking housing in the next decade, it is more important than ever to create housing models that integrate these adults into community life.
Long-term plans for Madison Fields include neuro-diverse housing where individuals with autism can live, work, and play alongside a supportive diverse community committed to inclusion. The success of early programs and sustainable ago-businesses at Madison Fields will allow for the development of this innovative intentional community.
Kacey is currently enrolled in our Therapeutic Riding Program and is one of the first participants in our Vocational Training Program. She loves to visit the chickens and work in the horse stalls. We can’t wait until she can live at Madison Fields where she can collect eggs and provide care for our chickens and horses.
